Living in Scotland we have the opportunity to explore and enjoy the freshest and most extraordinary fish and seafood. At the Ship on the Shore we take great pride in using the freshest ingredients which arrives daily from sustainable stocks.
We love this gift from nature’s larder, served with champagne and fine wines and wanted to share it with you, our fellow travellers. Our aim is to supply Scotland’s best seafood dining experience offering sustainable Scottish fish and seafood served with simplicity and style.
When the sun shines our delicious seafood can be served outside on our shore-front terrace beside the Water of Leith, when it doesn’t our fabulous and atmospheric bar and restaurant awaits you.
Whether its a champagne breakfast you’re after, lunch, dinner or luxuriating over our Fruits de Mer ‘Royale’ or Hot Shellfish Platter, or just enjoying a delicious glass of champagne, wine or cocktail in our fabulous bar – the Ship on the Shore offers informal, understated excellence.
We serve food all day, from our delicious menus (12 noon onwards). Breakfast is also currently being offered on Saturday & Sunday from 10am – 12 noon.

The Ship on the Shore has been trading in various forms for hundreds of years serving the bustling port of Leith.
The area directly outside was part of the main docking point for Ships exporting and importing luxury goods all over Europe, including wine, port and brandy, alongside cloth, spices, paper and exquisite glassware.
